Re: Would You?
No chance. A football club is a lot more about just winning football matches on a Saturday afternoon, or in our case trying to. Apparently we do a lot of work these days in the community, fuck sending this vile fucker to see local kids in hospitals before Christmas :-)

I'd like to repeatedly smash his face in with a baseball bat as he tells me I'm hurting him and asking me to stop.

Arf! @ 'new information'

He tried to rape her. If for whatever reason she is back pedalling ("We were just doing improv drama. He'sa perfect gentlemanin real life"), it doesn't change what happened.

But then if it allows people to pretend he isn't a wrong'un, fair enough.

Re: Would You?
The charges were dropped when 'new information' came to light so he is officially guilty of nothing other than being generally having been pretty nasty to some people (disclaimer, I don't know the ins and outs)

I would take him if he is willing to and shows is ready to put whatever troubles he has had behind him and knuckle down.

As an aside I saw on the other thread you have been unwell - best wishes lass for a swift recovery

Ha! True.

Nurse, indeed and no disputing the counter opinion from me

It's a provocative thread to start, granted, but I reckon for sure that whilst some would remain opposed whatever, the bulk of the objectors would flip when he started banging in the goals

Fickle lot us fans and a strikers currency are goals above decency

Re: Would You?
It doesn't matter that he hasn't been convicted or gone to court. Part of the reason alleged wrongdoers are prosecuted is so that the court can establish the facts. A court case wasn't needed in this case because the recording established the facts.

It's up to the individual to say if they would be happy to have Greenwood representing their club. We are giving you our answer, whatever that may be.

Nurse

No disputing that, a vile human being
But one who has not been convicted and is exceptionally gifted whilst potentially accessible

Morals of an alley cat maybe but I'm not on a legal jury, merely a footballing one and someone somewhere will take him

Re: Would You?
Clubs won't touch him as they are worried about their brand image the media fallout and potentially losing sponsors and the like.
He will probably move abroad initially and then come back once the dust has settled although unlikely to be a top drawer club.

Simon

I'd wager opinion would shift rapidly when he stuffs 4 past Spurs
Top, top player, way beyond our means were he not a wrongun
And not alone in the alleged morality dept; Benzema, Valbena, Saliba, Ribery, Robben, Lineker, the '70's bracelet thief', the list is as timeless as endless - far longer than our successful strikers

Re: Would You?
Obviously, nobody's perfect, yadda.

However, in the case of Greenwood we actually got to hear a recording of what happened between him and his girlfriend. There is no wriggle room here. It cannot be said to be blown out of proportion, or the other party was asking for it, or benefit of the doubt must be given becausewe don't know what happened.

The recoding made it clear he was trying to rape her. He was aggressive in his words and actions. There is no ambiguity in his language.

She told him several times she didn't want to have sex. She told him he was hurting her. She told him he hadn't asked her. He replied "If I asked you, you would say no".

It doesn't matter if she withdrew her complaint. It doesn't alter the facts.

If his career is over, then maybe it could be said that an attempted rapist doesn't deserve to continue in his career. No-one would give a toss if an attempted rapist could no longer work as a security guard.

Yes.

As Groucho would have said - Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others. We’ve got a bloke who drop kicks cats.

No, he’s a scumbag. If we wouldn’t take Joey Barton, we wouldn’t take him.
